Fire Chief
Volunteer fire chief Charles “Buck” Clough Jr. died today on his way to put out a fire in a home.
The home is on the main street of the Eastern Shore town of Sudlersville.
The call came from the home at around 7 p.m.
He road his pick up truck to the home when his truck slipped off the road and crashed into trees.
Virginia Tech
Today is the two year anniversary of the Virginia Tech massacre that took place on April 16, 2007.
4,300 people came to Virginia Tech to run in a 3.2 mile race in honor of 32 students that were killed by student Seung Hui-Cho.
Many of the students that were injured in the massacre ran in the race.

ReplyDeleteBoth of these are too short, under 60 words. Go for 80.
Remember to stay in present tense. The fire chief story starts in past tense (Clough died). Good job of using short sentences.
In the Virginia Tech story, you do start with present tense. But think of what's happening NOW: perhaps start with "Students are remembering their classmates..."
Spell out numbers the way the anchor would speak them.
