press conference

Death
4-13-09

Yesterday at 12:00 a.m. Jaine Henderson the executive director of Maryland Citizens Against Execution held a press conference for students at Anne Arundel Community College answering questions about the new death penalty bill.
The organization welcomes the new bill that was recently past, to help prevent wrongful execution, Henderson said. By requiring biological evidence, video tape confession, or video tape of the crime, but the organization still wants the death penalty repealed, Henderson said.
Henderson clamed that execution was a costly process that took three times as much money as life in prison. She said that 186 million dollars over a 20 year period and most of the people that go through the process are never executed.
There have only been five executions in Maryland in the past 30 years but she complained that there is juridical and racial bias. Four out of
five people who have been on death row have killed white victims when 82% of murder victims are black Henderson said.

Bad Day, bad calls from yesterdays Caps game makes it worse

No Sports make for a very long day and when I mean no sports I mean no Orioles, Caps or Ravens games today and yes I'm still football sick. What really makes it a bad day is that the Caps lost because three none calls. Let me explain yesterday the Caps lost 4-3 to the NY Rangers but what people don't talk about is that the game was a close game and that two of the goals came when three penalties werent called. The first goal I am talking about happened when Tomas Fleischmann was hit in the other teams end while trying to back check or go help the defence this is an interference call. On the same play Mike Green a defenceman for the caps was tripped by Avery while playing defence leaving the caps on a 2 on 1 and a goal was scored. the last real bad call came when Shoane Morrison had his stick broke in half while killing a penalty which forced Fleischmann to give Morrison his stick making the play a virtual 5-3 and they scored. So the playoffs arent over but its an unforgivable set of none calls that ruined that game, but the goalie Theordore could have stopped all the shots even if the shots should have never taken place.

Home run city

Everyone says that Texas is a hitters ball park. Yesterday the Baltimore Orioles played the Texas Rangers at Texas and the game ended up 10-9 a victory for the Orioles, bad pitching maybe good hitting yes. I'm not sure if it is only the ball park the Orioles and Rangers are two teams that are known for being offensive teams with less then great pitching. I'm not sold on the ballpark being a hitters park but I'm starting to think so as I'm watching the Oriole game tonight there have been five home runs in the game tonight, before the 5th inning.

Update: 10:48 p.m. the game slowed down the Orioles starter left with discomfort in his elbow very early in the game during the 2nd inning. The game is now in extra innings thanks to some great work from the bpen and defence so I guess pitching beats hitting.
